A Little Silver Can Ruin Your Life!

Share with your friends on Facebook

One day a certain rich man who lived a miserable life visited a rabbi. The rabbi took the rich man by the hand and led him to a window. “Look out there,” he said. The rich man looked into the street. “What do you see?” asked the rabbi.

“I see men, women and children,” answered the rich man.

Again the rabbi took him by the hand and this time led him to a mirror. “Now what do you see?”

“Now I see myself,”

the rich man replied.

Then the rabbi said,  “Behold, in the window there is a glass, and in the mirror there is a glass. But the glass in the mirror is covered with a little silver, and no sooner is the silver added than you cease to see others, and you see only yourself!”

Jesus told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’

“Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I will say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’

“But God said to him, ‘You fool!  This very night your life will be demanded of you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

“This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves, but is not rich in the things that matter to God.” (Luke 12: 16-21)

How has “a little silver” jaded the way YOU see others who are less fortunate than yourself?  Are YOU rich in the things that matter to God?

GOD WON’T BE HANDCUFFED BY YOUR FAILURES OR UNLEASHED BY YOUR SUCCESSES!!
