“Better to be a lively sinner than a dull saint!” This was a famous quote of Eugene Kennedy, the psychotherapist, teacher and author.
Who would we rather be around – a lively sinner or a dull saint? A lively sinner can go to confession. A dull saint is merely taking up space in the pew, at work or at the dinner table.
To Jesus a dull saint is a contradiction in terms.
Jesus tells each one of us,
“You are the light of the world….
You are the salt of the earth.”
