An unmarried professor had a friend who was an artist.
One day he went into his friend’s studio and saw a magnificent portrait of a lovely lady. He could not help admiring the painting. The professor asked if he could take it and hang it in his apartment. The artist gave him the painting and he hung it in his apartment. The artist suggested that maybe he might want to go one better and meet the woman. The bachelor at the time was not interested.
Later, however, almost by accident he did meet the lady and in due course they were married. Then she moved into the apartment where her portrait was hung. Before the wedding, the woman was just a painting – objective, formal, something to look at and admire. Now she was someone he got to know and love.
How many of us have a picture of Jesus hanging on the wall of our homes? Could Jesus be just someone who looks good and someone whom we admire? But to really get to know and love Jesus, he must come off the wall, step out of the picture and come into our hearts where we might live with him day in and day out.
Thanks to John R. Brokhoff for sharing. Thanks to Sara Garnica for the picture.
How often do YOU take Jesus “off the wall” and into YOUR heart?
ONLY JESUS COULD BUILD A BRIDGE TO HEAVEN WITH JUST TWO PIECES OF WOOD!!
