A Poem for a Pandemic

Share with your friends on Facebook

Our carefully-crafted illusion
of predictable security,
destroyed by a simple virus.

We watch as the well-oiled gears
of our elaborate world machine
grind to a shuddering halt.

An invisible enemy
illuminates hidden lines
of our interdependence.

Eerie silence prowls empty streets.
Enforced isolation teaching us
Just how much we need each other.

By John Mark Green

How has the coronavirus made YOU see how much we need each other? Why do you say that?

What lasting effect will this interdependence have on YOUR life?
