Am I Kidding Myself?

In January of 2002 Mike Tyson applied for a boxing license to fight in the State of Nevada.

At the hearing he argued: “I’m not Mother Teresa, but I’m not Charles Manson either.” His application for a license was denied.

Ever since he said that I’ve thought about the time when I will die and I will have to stand before the Lord in judgment of what I have done and what I have not done in my life.

Will my words be the same as Mike Tyson’s: “Lord, I’m not Mother Teresa, but I’m not Charles Manson either? Please let me spend my eternity with you.”  I often wonder if I am kidding myself.

I want to tell myself that at the end of my life, my good deeds will outweigh my bad deeds and the sins I have committed. Oh, I hope I’ve accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior as my evangelical friends have helped me to do.

But have I had a complete change of heart and not only words? I think it’s the complete change of heart that I have to keep working on with the Lord.

On Judgement Day, how will YOUR words be different than the words of Mike Tyson?

Morning is God’s way of telling us: Live Life! Make a Difference! Touch a Heart! Inspire a Soul! Encourage a Mind! Good Morning!
