Are You Really Happy?

Share with your friends on Facebook

Some time ago a newspaper in England asked this question: “Who are the happiest people on earth?”  These were the four prize-winning answers:

• A craftsman or artist whistling over a job well done.

• A little child building sand castles.

• A mother, after a busy day, bathing her baby.

• A doctor who has finished a difficult and dangerous operation, and has saved a human life.

None of Forbes’ 2,755 billionaires or the 20 million millionaires in the world made the list. They were probably too worried about their investments or their taxes to really be happy. No kings, queens, princes or princesses made the list either. Oprah’s TV special with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took care of that idea.

What I notice in each of the above that leads to happiness is CREATIVITY. The craftsman, the artist, the child and the mother have all created something or someone that makes them really happy. The doctor has especially created a new lease on life for a sick or dying patient.

Eons before St. John the Evangelist writes that “God is Love,” the Book of Genesis at the very beginning tells us that “God is the Creator” and all that God creates is good.

What makes God the happiest? The answer is simple: When God is creating, God is the happiest. The Hubble telescope keeps reminding us that God is creating new galaxies, stars and planets in deep outer space EVERY DAY!   Oh, do we have a Happy God!

Have YOU been really happy this past year? What have YOU created this past year that has brought you a special happiness?  We are created to be happy, LIKE GOD IS HAPPY – TO CREATE LIKE GOD DOES……SO AS TO BE HAPPY.

HOW DOES GOD SPEAK TO YOU?  IN THE LANGUAGE OF EVERYTHING THAT GOD CREATES AS BEAUTIFUL!
