“Don’t Hope….DECIDE!”

Share with your friends on Facebook

Michael Hargrove tells about a scene at an airport that literally changed his life.

He was picking up a friend.  He noticed a man coming toward him carrying two light bags. The man stopped right next to Hargrove to greet his family.  The man motioned to his younger son (maybe six years old) as he laid down his bags. They hugged and Hargrove heard the father say, “It’s so good to see you, son. I missed you so much!”  “Me, too, Dad!” said the son.

The older son (maybe nine or ten) was next. “You’re already quite the young man. I love you very much, Zach!” Then he turned to their little girl (perhaps one or one-and-a-half). He kissed her and held her close. He handed his daughter to his older son .

He then declared to his wife, “I’ve saved the best for last!” He preceded to give his wife a long, passionate kiss.  “I love you so much!” He said to his wife softly.

Michael Hargrove interrupted this idyllic scene to ask,  “Wow! How long have you two been married?”

“Been together fourteen years total, married twelve of those,” the man replied, as he gazed into his wife’s face.

“Well then, how long have you been away?”

The man turned around and said, “Two whole days!” Hargrove was stunned.  “I hope my marriage is still that passionate after twelve years!”

The man stopped smiling and said,

 “Don’t hope, friend . . . DECIDE!!”

And that’s it, isn’t it? For most of us it comes down to a DECISION.  “Till death us do part.” It doesn’t happen in every relationship, but that is still the ideal that Jesus gives us. This is the way marriage is supposed to be, the way God intended it to be.

Thanks to King Duncan for sharing this story.

What DECISIONS have YOU made about how YOU will treat people in YOUR family or in YOUR marriage?

GOD IS ALWAYS DOING 10,000 THINGS IN YOUR LIFE. YOU MAY BE AWARE OF THREE OF THEM!

Three years ago on October 7, 2018 I began TreatsfortheSoul.org and the first Daily Treat was sent out. Over the next few days, I’d like to share the history, the vision and the mission of TreatsfortheSoul.org and the Daily Treats.

About 15 years ago I came up with the idea I wanted to do a blog that would come out every day. I felt that if I was really serious about growing spiritually myself and if I wanted to help others to do the same, it would have to be posted daily. It seemed like an awesome task – to have something fresh and different every day that was interesting enough for people to want to read or listen to on a podcast daily. I felt that I could come up with the content for the website, but I was practically computer illiterate.

Then four years ago the Holy Spirit tapped me on the shoulder when Tim Veach, a dear friend and IT whiz moved from Chicago to Lake Worth, Florida. Tim spent countless hours building the website. He and I would meet halfway between us at a Starbucks in Boca Raton, bringing our laptops and working for hours. Countless questions were asked, many hurdles were faced and overcome. Thanks to Tim Veach, we launched on October 7, 2018.
