God Is Calling You to Do 3 Things Today

1. When you Pray, God Listens.
2. When you Listen, God Speaks.
3. When you Believe, God Works.

Most of us have trouble listening to God. Most of us, given the choice, would prefer that God would listen to us. We have a list of wants and needs and we want God to take notice. We fill our prayers with so many words, that we forget to leave space for silence. The word “listen” contains the exact same letters as the word “silent.” We forget that God really wants to talk to us. A God-Buzz. Sometimes I think we do all the talking because we are afraid God won’t. Or we are afraid that God will do all the talking.

People ask me why I became a priest. A simple answer would be to say, “God called me.” But it’s complicated. My dad was a railroad engineer for 50 years. Everyday he came home tired, angry and bored. I wanted an exciting life. Priesthood certainly has been exciting and challenging. No two days have been the same. There was a lot or arguing and fighting at home when I was growing up. As a priest I wanted to help people who had to endure what I went through. Priesthood has been everything I expected it to be and much more. But to get to where I needed to be in life, I had to do a lot of listening to the voice of God deep within me. A God-Nod.

Why did you become a husband, a wife, a parent, a teacher, a nurse, a sales person, a computer analyst, a doctor, a lawyer, a real estate agent? Is your real passion in what you do for a living? What has God through other people been calling you to do with your life? What is God calling you to do now in your life? A God-Alert.

1. When you Pray, God Listens.
2. When you Listen, God Speaks.
3. When you Believe, God Works.
