I often stand in line at the Walgreen’s a block away from where I live. The day-time checkout lady always finishes with a customer by saying, “Have a nice day!”
One day I was in line behind a man who did not look or sound too well.
His little shopping cart was filled with a bottle of extra-strength Tylenol, l2 ounces of Kaopectate, an elastic knee support, a supply of corn plasters, Dristan, a vaporizer, a remedy for sore gums and various “over-the-counter” medications.
The clerk scanned all of his items and processed his credit card for payment. She handed him his receipt as she looked at him. He grabbed his two plastic bags and began to walk out of the store. The checkout lady piped up and said her regular refrain: “Have a nice day!”
Those are such easy words to say when we can close our eyes to all the obvious reasons why that person is not going to have a nice day.
BE SOMEBODY WHO MAKES EVERYBODY FEEL LIKE A SOMEBODY.
What would YOU have said to the man if YOU were the checkout person at Walgreen’s?
JESUS NEVER PROMISED TO ELIMINATE ALL THE PROBLEMS AND CHAOS FROM YOUR LIFE. JESUS SAID HE’D BRING MEANING TO IT!
