Healing My Soul

Share with your friends on Facebook

John the Baptist in today’s Gospel (Mark 1:1-8) shows us what a truly humble person is like: “One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals.”

So often I have prayed when my ego gets the best of me —

“Dear God, give me a good humiliation every day. It’s good for my soul and especially good for my ego.”

God often answers my prayers in the strangest of ways. Almost every day during my 2-week hospital stay, the nurse has had to wipe my butt after I make a mess.

My soul is healing faster than my left leg!
