I Was…..You Said…..

Share with your friends on Facebook

I was naked, and you said I should go find a thrift store.

I was imprisoned, and even with the virus all around me, you said I should stay there.

I was penniless, and you said that I should have saved for rainy days like these.

I was sick, and you said I should have been more careful and not caught the coronavirus.

I was hungry, and you said there were food banks, even if the lines were two miles long.

I was homeless, and you said to talk to the landlord and get a month’s rent extension.

I was lonely, and you said there was nothing you could do and you stayed home and prayed.

You seem so holy and close to God.Yet I’m still sick and alone and afraid!

Jesus said:

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,  I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”    Matthew 25:35-40

Where have YOU seen Jesus during the pandemic in the news or on TV  where he was lonely, homeless, hungry, sick, penniless, imprisoned or naked. Did you feel a deep sense of compassion toward Jesus when you saw him like this?
