Some people are so superficial when it comes to their understanding of prayer.

“Hey, Father,” said a man talking to a priest.“You got it all wrong about this God stuff. He doesn’t exist. I oughta know.”

“Why’s that, my friend?” asked the priest.

“Well,” the man said, “when I was ice-fishing in the Arctic far from the nearest village, a blizzard blew up with wind and blinding snow. I was a goner. So I got down on my knees and prayed real hard, begging God for help.”

“And did God help you?” asked the priest.

“Heck no,” said the man. “God didn’t lift a finger. Some Eskimo appeared out of nowhere and showed me the way to go.”

Prayer is a potent force in the life of a believer. Ash Wednesday and Lent are only two days away. Get ready for Lent today.

Spend ten minutes in quiet prayer today, reflecting and thanking God for the time when God showed YOU where to go and what to do during a fierce emotional storm.

GOD LOVES IT WHEN YOU PRAY ABOUT THE LITTLE THINGS!

Lent is a great time for the people in your group or parish to be reading and listening to www.TreatsfortheSoul.org. Please invite them to subscribe.
