There are at least two times in our lives when we respond immediately to the sound of a loving voice….as a baby and in old age. A parent’s voice soothes a baby like no other. A loved one’s voice also comforts an elderly person when they are distressed or disorientated.
But these voices pale in comparison to the voice of Jesus. At the moment of our own death, in the midst of all the sounds around us, we will hear the voice of Jesus – soothing, reassuring, comforting, inviting, welcoming, and confident.
At that moment we pray that we will do what we have tried to do throughout our lives…to walk straight toward Jesus and let him take us to our eternal home with him.
