Our Broken World!

Share with your friends on Facebook

One day a young boy was anxiously awaiting his father to come home from work. He had games he wanted to play with his father. But his father was late and he wanted to relax. But the boy was insistent. In frustration the father tore out a picture of world in a magazine he was reading. He then tore it into a hundred pieces and then gave them to him along with a roll of Scotch tape. “Here,” he said, “Go and put the world back together.”

Shortly the boy returned with the picture of the world pasted back together again. The father was dumbfounded. “How did you do that so quickly?” he asked. “It was easy,” said the boy, “On the other side of the picture of the world was a man. Once I got the man straightened out, the world was okay too.”

God sees our broken world better than we do. God sent his own Son to put our broken world together again. As Jesus says in today’s Gospel (John 3:14-21), “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.”

Our goal is eternal life. H.L. Hunt, the billionaire Texas oilman became a Christian later in life. He called a friend of his and announced: I just made the biggest trade in my entire life. I traded the here and now for the hereafter.”

EVERYTHING YOU SEE AROUND YOU RIGHT NOW IS TEMPORARY. EVERYTHING YOU DO NOT SEE AROUND YOU RIGHT NOW IS PERMANENT!!

What similar trade have YOU made in your life this Lent?
