Our Egos Hate Losing

I’ve been living in South Florida for 20 years now. A number of my friends are well into their 90’s. I prize their wisdom and all they have learned in almost a century of living – from the horse and buggy days to everyone around them clutching their smart phones today.

One dear and wise 97-year old man has been sharing a bit of wisdom with me the past 5 years —

“When losing becomes a sin, then lying becomes a sacrament.”

I’ve reflected on the meaning and the truth of his words countless times. Our egos hate losing, even to God!

I hope to be leaving rehab on Sunday and heading to my condo, staying off my left leg for at least a month.

Thanks for your many prayers!
Fr. Med Laz.
