Lent is a time that is set aside to grow spiritually. I invite you to spend a few minutes this weekend and in the coming week contemplating the following Six Steps that will bring you ever closer to the Lord….

I REALIZE THAT GOD THE FATHER, SON & SPIRIT ARE HERE WITH ME NOW

I pause and I reflect on how I was created in the image and likeness of God because I can create, know and love like God does. I realize how blind I often am in seeing the image of my Creator in me and the image of Jesus in others.

I AM WILLING TO LET GO & LET GOD

Lord, I ask you for the grace that I may let go of all my preoccupations. May I be open to what you are revealing to me today.

I AM MINDFUL

Resolve to use your non-dominant hand a few times today and each day this coming week to do things like brushing your teeth or combing your hair. Doing this will awaken your sense of compassion for those you meet with disabilities or are clumsy or have had a stroke. There are people who we just don’t want to see.

I LISTEN TO JESUS SPEAKING TO ME

As Jesus passed by he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither he nor his parents sinned; it is so that the works of God might be made visible through him.”

These are Jesus’ words in tomorrow’s Gospel. The full reading: John 9: 1-41

What works of God in your life is Jesus telling you about?

I SPEAK TO GOD

Lord, I wonder what I can say to you as you are here with me today. I want to say, “Thank you” because you have cured my spiritual blindness. I am now enjoying the people and the things in my life that really matter. Please add your own words…….

I AM WILLING TO MOVE FORWARD WITH MY LIFE

God WHISPERS to us in our pleasures, SPEAKS in our consciences, but God SHOUTS to us in our pains. It is God’s megaphone TO RESCUE A DEAF WORLD.     C.S. Lewis
