Spend Time With God This Lent

Share with your friends on Facebook

Lent is a time that is set aside to grow spiritually. I invite you to spend a few minutes this weekend and the coming week contemplating the following Six Steps that will bring you ever closer to the Lord….

I REALIZE THAT GOD THE FATHER, SON & SPIRIT ARE HERE WITH ME NOW

I pause for a moment and reflect on God’s life-giving Spirit throughout my body and deep within my soul. It is like having living water in my veins that will take away my spiritual thirst until I someday reach eternal life.

I AM WILLING TO LET GO & LET GOD

Dear God, grant me the grace to let go of the excesses in my life and confront the addictions that control me. Keep my mind and my body free of excesses and addictions so I may love and serve you more.

I AM MINDFUL

Any time today or this week that you find yourself waiting – in line at the store or waiting for someone who’s late – take this as an opportunity to reflect and to pray. While waiting, contemplate the ways that “your presence” in others’ lives and “your loving attention” is the very best gift you have to offer them.

I LISTEN TO JESUS SPEAKING TO ME

Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

These are Jesus words in tomorrow’s Gospel. The full reading: John 4:5-42

Reflect on how the living water Jesus gives you is an energy drink of grace that will keep you strong and going as you help others.

I SPEAK TO GOD

Today’s scripture strikes a chord in me, Lord. The words of a friend, a story I recently heard, leaves me so thirsty and dry, not for water, but for someone to be near to me today. I think of you Jesus sitting here beside me. I turn and share my feelings with you Jesus…..

I AM WILLING TO MOVE FORWARD WITH MY LIFE

Dear God, help me today to see others not as enemies or as ungodly, but rather as thirsty people. And give me the courage and the compassion to offer them your Living Water, which alone quenches their deepest thirst.
