Take What You Need!

Share with your friends on Facebook

Some years ago I knew a seminarian who was on vacation. He went to visit his father who was a permanent deacon in a poor inner-city parish.

As his Dad was showing him around the poor neighborhood, they decided they were hungry and would call and order a pizza for when they got back to the rectory. This happened way back in the days before cell phones.

A few minutes later a homeless man came up to them and asked, “Any spare change?” Deacon Dad pulled out all the change he had and said, “Here, take what you need.” The astonished beggar said, “Well, I’ll take it all!” and he did.

A minute later, Deacon Dad realized he had no coins left to call for the pizza. He turned and shouted after the homeless man, “Excuse me, I need to make a phone call. Can you spare some change?” The homeless man walked back and held out his hands filled with coins. “Here, take what you need,” he said.

Mutual Sharing – It’s what being a follower and a disciple of Jesus is all about!!

Think of an incident of Mutual Sharing in YOUR life.

WHEN YOU THINK THAT GOD NEVER PROVIDES FOR WHAT YOU NEED, TOUCH YOUR PULSE. THAT IS A BIG PROOF THAT GOD GIVES YOU MORE THAN YOU NEED!
