A few years ago I got a call from a young man I knew. He was struggling with his graduate studies and problems with his family. He was crying out for help.
So he came to see me and we sat down and talked. I saw a tortured soul in front of me, filled with self-doubt. He was drinking heavily. I was able to get him to go to Alcoholics Anonymous.
But after going to a few meetings, he wouldn’t go back to AA. I asked him why.
“I’m not like THOSE PEOPLE,” he said to me.
The Great Divide: “I’m not like THOSE PEOPLE.” Most of us suffer from The Great Divide: THEM and Us….THEM and Me.
We and our egos put up these walls, these barriers. So there can be no spiritual growth.
This young man made me think of self-absorbed people who only think about what makes them feel good at the moment. They don’t have any respect or regard for anyone else. Then they wonder why they feel empty inside, they have so much anger and their relationships fail.
Everything we judge in others is something within ourselves that we don’t want to face.
Who is on the other side of The Great Divide in YOUR life? Who are THOSE PEOPLE for YOU?
IF YOU DON’T LIKE “THOSE PEOPLE”, YOU ARE GOING TO HATE HEAVEN!
