The Prisoner Is You!

Share with your friends on Facebook

I once heard about a woman whose husband left her for another woman. When the divorce became final, this wandering husband married the other woman. He had two children with her.

After a few years he fell ill with cancer and his time was limited. His second wife was not into children and he knew that after he died, she would not take care of the children. He knew the deep compassion of his first wife and what a wonderful mother she was.

So he asked her if she would accept his children from his second marriage and rear them as her own. Incredibly, she said yes.

Someone asked her how she could rear the children of her adulterous ex-husband. She said there were two reasons: “First of all, God’s love gave me the grace to forgive my husband and accept his children as my own.”

But the other reason was even more compelling: “I could hear Jesus who was dying on the cross saying to me, ‘Woman, behold your children’ and ‘Children behold your mother!’”

These last words ever spoken by Jesus as he was dying on the Cross resonated in the heart and soul of the first wife. To forgive is to set a prisoner free and to discover that the prisoner is you.

What prisoner inside of YOU needs to be set free this Holy Saturday?

WE OUGHT TO BE LIVING AS IF JESUS DIED YESTERDAY, ROSE THIS MORNING AND IS COMING BACK THIS AFTERNOON!
