Two Prayers of St. Francis!

Share with your friends on Facebook

Today is the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the namesake of Pope Francis. Today in Rome Pope Francis opens the month-long Synod on Synodality with 364 voting delegates, clergy and for the first time – laity as well. These two prayers of St. Francis are wonderful ones to be prayed, especially today……

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.  Amen.

St. Francis of Assisi has also left us with another wonderful prayer….

Our Father, each day is a little life, each night is a tiny death.

Help us to live with faith and hope and love.

Lift our duty above drudgery. Let not our strength fail, or our vision fade, in the heat and burden of the day.

O God, make us patient with one another in the fret and jar of life, remembering that each of us fights a hard fight and walks a lonely way.

Forgive us, Lord, when we hurt other souls. Teach us a gentler tone, a sweeter charity of words, and a more healing touch.

Sustain us, O God, when we must face sorrow. Give us courage for today and hope for tomorrow.

Day unto day may we lay hold of your hand and look up into your face, no matter whatever befalls us, until our work is finished and the day is done.    Amen.

Please pray the above two Prayers of St. Francis today and other days as well.
