When a Civilization Begins

The noted anthropologist, Margaret Mead, was asked one day, “When does a civilization  begin?” The reporter expected her to say like with the Egyptians 4,500 years ago when they found simple jewelry or tools.
         But Mead said that they know civilization has begun when they find a healed femur bone. Mead said that a healed femur meant that an ancient people showed COMPASSION, the foundation for a civilization.
       And I believe the reverse is also true. The end of Compassion foretells the end is a civilization.
