WHEN LOSING IS A SIN

Share with your friends on Facebook

By midlife, many of us have become accomplished fugitives from our true selves. We try to fit into the lifestyles of those around us. Maybe we become clones to what the advertisers tell us about the way we should dress or drink or act. We are told that anyone who drives a five-year old car or who hasn’t said good-bye to their virginity by eighteen is a “loser”.

As a result, words like sacrifice, service, truthfulness and courage have no meaning or place in our lives. We are told that only losers act purely from moral convictions. We’re told that only losers stick their necks out for what is right and what they were raised to believe in. We’re told that winners can do anything they please and get away with whatever they want.

WHEN LOSING IS SEEN AS A SIN, THEN LYING BECOMES A SACRAMENT.

We see this happening right before our very eyes today in every day life.

Every day of our lives Jesus is trying to help us get out of these moral ruts we find ourselves in, especially the glamorous and fast-paced ruts of winning, losing and lying.
