We’ve all heard and used inspirational sayings like:
“NO PAIN, NO GAIN!” I’ve heard and used it many times during physical therapy for my broken femur.
“WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH GET GOING!” I’ve said that to myself many times these last four months during my rehabilitation.
Recently I saw a list of slightly more honest sayings:
HANG IN THERE, RETIREMENT IS ONLY THIRTY YEARS AWAY!
WHEN THE GOING GET TOUGH, THE TOUGH TAKE A COFFEE BREAK!
AIM LOW, REACH YOUR GOALS, AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT!
Too many people live their lives according to that last motto: “AIM LOW, REACH YOUR GOALS, AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT!”
But that is not what Jesus is saying to us as we get closer to Holy Week. Jesus calls us to head into deep waters, to get out of our comfort zone we have built for ourselves during the pandemic, and to let down our nets on the other side of the boat we call home. Jesus is leading us to something greater in life than we could have ever imagined!
God has chosen YOU for a specific purpose. You won’t accomplish this purpose by staying where it is safe your whole life.
It’s time to get out of your comfort zone. Do you think Jesus was comfortable when he was taking up that Cross to carry for you?
OUR GREATEST JOY IN LIFE COMES FROM A DECISION WE MAKE TO FOLLOW JESUS OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONE!
