Today, October 1, 2022, marks the 4th Anniversary of Treats for the Soul – Bringing Values and Hope to Our Troubled World.
During these past 4 years I’ve truly enjoyed sending out a Spiritual Message every day. At times it was a challenge – my open heart surgery, a broken left femur and 10 weeks in a wheelchair, a right hip replacement, along with the illness, death and burial of my brother Tom.
Even with those events, Covid-19 and some trips, along with some technical difficulties, not a day was missed in 4 years. I especially thank Tim Veach, my great IT person, who has always taken care of the technical issues of which I am totally ignorant.
I believe in Eucharist as FRESH BREAD. I believe that you and I need to be fed BY and WITH Jesus every day in a fresh and an inviting way. Every day we need to listen to our hungry souls and FEED THEM. We cannot just fixate our lives on the big and little screens that are always in front of us. Every day our souls are hungry for the FRESH BREAD that only Jesus can give us.
I truly appreciate the time YOU have taken these past 4 years to read and reflect on what I send out and to listen to my Podcast. Please check out the TreatsfortheSoul.org website on occasion. WHO WILL YOU SEE IN HEAVEN?
I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven’s door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its décor.
But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp —
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics and the trash.
There stood the kid from 7th grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice
Next to him was my old neighbor
Who never said anything nice.
Herb, who I always thought
Was rotting away in hell,
Was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
Looking incredibly well.
I nudged Jesus, “What’s the deal?
I would love to hear your take.
How’d all these sinners get up here?
God must’ve made a mistake.
And why’s everybody so quiet,
So somber – give me a clue.”
“Hush child,” He said,
“They’re all in shock.
No one thought they’d be seeing you.”
JUDGE NOT!!
Remember…..
Just going to church
doesn’t make you a Christian
any more than standing in your
garage makes you a car.
