In a Peanuts cartoon Snoopy the dog is feeling great. He comes dancing into the first frame saying to himself: “Sometimes I love life so much I can’t express it!”
In the second frame he continues to dance: “I feel that I want to take the first person I meet into my arms and dance merrily through the streets.”
Then, in the third frame, he meets a very grumpy Lucy. Snoopy is silent.
In the fourth frame, he is dancing again: “I feel that I want to take the SECOND person I meet into my arms and dance merrily through the streets.”
When you think about the possibilities that God offers YOU through the Babe of Bethlehem……it makes YOU want to dance.
This Peanuts cartoon makes me think about my 4th of July weekend in 2023. I was desperately in need of $26,050.00 for my Digital Education Summer program for students in Haiti. On Saturday, July 1st I encountered Fr. George, who I casually knew, at a church funeral. I mentioned that I was in need of funds for a project in Haiti.
He said he might know a donor who could help. On Monday, July 3rd, I emailed him the Digital Education proposal. On Wednesday, July 5th, I answered my smart phone and his booming voice shouted, “ARE YOU DANCING?” His donor had written the check for $26,050.00! When I got off the phone, I got up and started dancing all over my apartment!!
When was the last time YOU felt like dancing? Do YOU think there will be times in 2024 when YOU will feel like dancing?
