The Child Within You!

Share with your friends on Facebook

Every Christmas we celebrate the coming of a divine Child in our world and especially inside each of us. The Christ-Child will never be born in us unless we have the courage to face the ordinary childlike side of ourselves and let that child bloom and grow.

The child in us contains our creative spirit and power. Yet it is most often forgotten. Until we can reach the playful, creative and imaginative child within us, we are pretty dull to be around. We are not a whole human being. I confess that with the political scene of the past four years and the COVID-19 plague of the past ten months, the child within me has been suffering greatly and has been hard to find.

Many of us were hurt in some way as children and so we are afraid to show the child that is within us. I raised my hand to give an answer in 2nd grade in a spelling bee. I was sure that I had spelled it correctly. But the whole class laughed at me and the nun went on to the next student. For the next 19 years I never raised my hand again in class to offer an answer.

Until you and I allow the real child within us to live, grow and bloom, and discover that the beautiful child within us is accepted and cherished, warts and all, we will never become the manger where the Christ-Child can lay his head.

The adult Jesus was not kidding us when he said, “Trust me when I tell you that whoever does not accept the kingdom of God as a child will not enter into it”. (Luke 18:17).

When you become a child, when you become childlike, you become whole, creative and very much at peace within you. CHRISTMAS IS FOR CHILDREN, CHILDREN LIKE YOU AND ME!!

I FELL IN LOVE WITH JESUS BECAUSE HE LOVED ME WHEN I COULDN’T EVEN LOVE MYSELF!!
